Student Research Assistantships

Overview

The Student Research Assistantship program provides an opportunity for talented, industrious undergraduate students to work closely with faculty members in an area of special interest.  Research assistantships are NOT work-study positions—selected students will work exclusively on the research projects.  Neither your financial aid package nor your work-study eligibility will be affected; however, you will have to report what you earn to the IRS as taxable income.  Also, no students are permitted to work more than 20 hours a week.

Students majoring in any field and in any year of study are eligible to apply to become a research assistant.  If you think you might be interested in this opportunity you may access available openings after September 2, 2009 via our Student Employment Application System through Banner web.  Go to the Finance Tab choose Student Employment, apply for the position you are interested in and be sure to check off aid year 09/10.  Please upload the following.

  • A current c. v. or resume;
  • A cover letter including a brief statement indicating what particular skills you have, including computer, research, and language abilities, relevant to that position; A list of Bentley arts and sciences electives that you have taken.

Faculty will review student applications as they arrive on a rolling basis, so please get your information to us as soon as possible. Selected students will be contacted directly by faculty members.

If you do not have a Federal Work Study award or a Bentley Work program award, please email GA_Student_Employment and ask for a BWP award.  You must have an award in order to apply on the Student Employment site.
